Recently, one of our followers raised the battle cry: “Let’s get this shit trending. I’m all over it!” What, you may ask, caused this outburst? A realisation of just how many Spotify plays it takes your average, indie musician to earn enough to buy even the flimsiest of plastic plectrums, that is what!

REVERBNATION SITUATION

Braver than Fiction have been using the ReverbNation platform since the band was put together in the summer of 2013 and, whilst we have found some of the free features extremely useful, we do not think that the Premium (paid) features are cost-efficient as far as our needs and expectations are concerned so, we have come to a decision…

We have all been extremely quite good and we wondered what we might find in our Christmas stockings this year. As the seasonal excitement grows, one thing tends to lead very quickly to another here at Fiction Towers and our thoughts turned to what we would we like to find in our ultimate Christmas gift stocking.

MUSICIANS IN CAHOOTS

It has been an interesting, exhausting, thrilling and sometimes scary fourteen months since we first took to the stage as Braver than Fiction. There have been the inevitable line up changes, the occasional accident, a few near-disasters but a lot of fun. We have made some amazing friends on this journey and had to honour of sharing various stages (of many shapes and sizes) with an equally eclectic variety of outstanding acts.

WHY EVERY BAND SHOULD HAVE A BACKDROP (AND WHY DARK PURPLE CHALK SUCKS)

In this multi-social-digital-media age, significantly fewer people seem prepared to go out to watch bands ‘on the off chance’ any more. Instead, artists are far more likely to be systematically socially stalked way before any potential gig-goer will even lift that pudgy, swiping-finger off their glossy, black smart phone and actually heave themselves out of their custom gaming chair to venture into a venue.

King of Crows is the first EP recorded by Braver than Fiction, which was released on 24th July 2014, a day prior to us opening up at The Leadmill, Sheffield for Tramlines Festival 2014, supporting Cut Ribbons, JOLTA and The Wedding Present.
