Once upon a time, Braver than Fiction had an idea for a Jekyll and Hyde themed ‘Transformation’ T-shirt so our intrepid keyboard player (and secret fashionista) Jason took the plunge and had one made; there were a lot of “oohs” and “aahs” and the intention was to have armfuls of them produced but, for that time, it remained the only one…
Jason wore his Jekyll and Hyde ‘Transformation’ T-shirt proudly until almost exactly one year ago. It was the summer of 2014 (25th July to be precise) and we were the opening Tramlines act at The Leadmill, Sheffield. At one point during the very hot and sweaty evening that unfolded, Jason changed tops and placed his unique creation behind our merch’ table. Somehow, it disappeared from under our noses and was never seen again! To this day, we do not know what purpose someone would have had for Jason’s cast-off clothing – other than the fact that it was a really, really cool shirt!
Anyhow, much more recently, we were thrilled to discover we had (thanks to our wonderful followers’ support) won Fabrily’s Facebook contest to have them conceive a range of custom T-shirts for us (thank you Fabrily!) Kate Shoaf, Fabrily’s Blog and Social Media Manager has been super-helpful, making sure each stage of the process has been carried out with care and transparency. Fabrily’s design team have been fantastic, taking our original idea and bringing it well and truly up to date for printing onto Fabrily’s fabulous merchandise.
The reason we were so eager that our T-shirts were based on this previously one-off Jekyll and Hyde ‘Transformation’ design was because we wanted to compliment our recently devised #braverthancancer fund-raising initiative, that came about because Mel (our vocalist) was handling her own ‘transformation’ as she fought cancer – which you may already know from our earlier blog posts:
Remarkably, Mel has just been told she is in remission and that only five months after being diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer she is on the mend and gaining ground every day!
You can take a look at the T-shirt campaign and find out how you can own one too by following this link:
We cannot wait to see the orders come rolling in for our new T-shirts and we know you are going to love them; 100% of the profit from every one we sell will go to Macmillan Cancer Support on behalf of Mel and Braver than Fiction via #braverthancancer. You can also donate via our official Just Giving donations page because, we realise that a T-shirt purchase might not be a practical way of showing support for everyone!
Oh and one more thing; remember to share this post and/or the Fabrily page and use #braverthancancer to promote our campaign!
